Boats

The Optimist is a dinghy with a square shape, designed for more stability and easy control. Adapted for people weighing around 40 to 120 pounds, it is the perfect boat for young beginers. It permits kids to safely learn sailing's basic maneuvers and makes it easier for them to get the feel of the wind and rudder due to it's simple rig. There is also a internationnaly recognised optimist regatta class for advanced sailors.

Competition Optimist

The Laser I is a more challenging one sail dinghy. Its hydrodynamic shape and its large sail area give a surprisingly good feel of both wind and water. Plus, it is easily controlled, since its rigging is rather simple for a race boat. The laser is designed for people weighing from 110 to 200 pounds, and the optimal weight is 170 pounds.

The Laser II is very similar in shape to the laser I, but it is rigged with two sails. It is a two person dinghy, which makes it a interesting and challenging boat in both regattas and pleasure sailing, since a team effort is added to the sailing experience. During Bronze Sail programmes, we learn trapeze and spinaker, which make sailing the laser II an even greater experience.

The Squadron 13 is a larger dinghy. It is more stable than the laser and a quite a bit more heavy. It is a perfect boat for less adventurous beginners. It is also popular with people who prefer a gentle ride. It is a two sail sloop that can cary from 2 to 3 people.

The Mistral 4.04 is similar to the Squadron in shape and size. It is however lighter and has less sail area. It can also cary from 2 to 3 people.

The Mystère 17.5 is a catamaran that the school uses to expand the sailing experience during the day and sailing camps. Catamerans are very fast boats, and we only use ours with an instructor on board.

The Byte is a single handed boat, similar to the Laser in shape, but smaller and lighter. It is a recognised olympic class for dinghy racing, and is enjoyed throughout the world by people who are too light for the Laser. The optimal weight for this boat is 130 pounds.
